Two Berkeley fire fighters were injured with minor burns during a fire that gutted much of a six unit apartment building at the corner of Fulton and Parker streets. About 200 black students at UC Berkeley stood in silent protest for over two hours at Sather Gate on campus in 2010 in reaction to the discovery of a noose hanging in the library at UC San Diego. "We are brothers and sisters in a nonviolent, silent demonstration, standing in solidarity with the UCSD students who have been affected by blatant acts of ignorance and hatred," a flyer said.
