Berkeley, California
Berkeley and Oakland police officers took into custody a woman clad only in a bath towel from a home on McGee Street in 2007. Police say the woman was a passenger in a car wanted in an armed robbery committed near Children's Hospital. Oakland police spotted the car and chased it to Berkeley. Shots were intitially fired after the car came to a stop in the 1600 block of Oregon street. No one was injured. Police also arrested the male driver shortly after he stopped the car on Oregon street. A third man was taken into custody in the house on McGee Street where the woman had fled.

Two Berkeley fire fighters were injured with minor burns during a fire that gutted much of a six unit apartment building at the corner of Fulton and Parker streets. The fire did an estimated $400,000 in damage and displaced 11 tenants. Twenty eight fire fighters battled the two-alarm blaze.

U.S. Marine Corps supporter Weston Hoover tries to get past anti-war protesters from World Cant Wait who chained themselves to the front door of the Marine Corps recruiting station on Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley in 2008. The three protesters were arrested by Berkeley police. The protest came three days after the Berkeley City Council declared the Marines "uninvited and unwelcome intruders" in the city.
